Skeleg,
You also have to consider that if there were naked shorts driving down the price, they are not all that effective. I mean, the price has dropped but not enough to make it worth while for a short seller.
You would know that those who do naked shorting are sophisitcated investors. Can we agree on this?
Ask yourself, how an investor could really make money by naked shorting Tyhee knowing that it trades small volumes and that it only takes small volumes to move the share price up significantly.
By this, let's say an investor started shorting at 50 cents. He kept shorting until the price is where it's at now. Now at some point he must cover. But for this to be worth all the effort of patiently accumulating this position, he would need to have a significant position.
Yet as soon as he covers his first 50,000 shares, he'll drive the price up by 3 cents or so. By the time he covers his next 100,000 shares he would probably have driven the price up another 5 cents which is probably more than he initially shorted at or so close to it, it would be worth peanuts.
And, if you agreed earlier that this shorting is done by sophisitcated investors, do you really think they'd put all that time and effort into this play just to make a few thousand dollars? I don't.
