The original US dollar was based on the Spanish Empire dollar, which was equal to 8 SILVER pieces. The Spanish silver dollar was accepted as currency in the United States until the mid-1800's.

Gold is traditionally a store of massive wealth. Silver was a currency used in day to day transactions. It will be again.

Apparently, Mark Faber has not studied his history. The inflationary boom of the last 30 years has not changed the standards of human civilization for the last 5,000 years.
