Perhaps he's right but that doesn't explain the high demand for physical silver and shortages around the entire world. Obviously there isn't some massive demand for industrial silver that's cropped up in the last 3 months so there must be a few folks who see it as a precious metal, investment metal, currency.

Silver has been a currency going back thousands of years. Silver Pieces of Eight became the first universal currency. I was a pirate in a past life and remember them well :)

One of the things I'd like to see now is the gold and silver industry stepping up their marketing. If milk could launch a successful campagn, surely the gold industry could. Inform people of the value of gold and silver in 30 second spots just the same as the brokers inform them of the value of investing.
