I think that happened to many. This last time down was brutal. Fortunately for me I was all in on the physical metals going back to 2005 to 2006 or I would have suffered the same fate.

This last correction which I hope has ended (can't say for certain yet) caught almost everyone flatfooted. I just recently got back into my Canadian Royalty trust. I'm underwater there too, but I can still see the surface.
