A note regarding Canaccord puts some light on their recent/current selling of TDC. Apparently it was part of their junior mining initiative that has underperformed to the point they are dumping it. I suspect others may follow suit until we get some news about TDC's finances.
Junior Mining
What's up 203% in the past six months? Canaccord Adams' 2009 Watch List of
junior mining companies - that's what! Back in late December 2008, the
junior mining research group at Canaccord Adams were not exactly "raging
bulls" when they looked forward into 2009. They were, however, cautiously
optimistic given that the small-cap mining sector had just been through its
worst, most precipitous decline in modern history. Canaccord Adams believed
that a sustainable recovery in the junior mining space would depend upon
the perception that an overall recovery in global demand for metals was
imminent. The group felt that a turnaround in global demand for metals
would likely depend on the efficiency of the government stimulus packages
being implemented around the globe. And, most importantly, the market
needed a renewed appetite for risk to bring investors back to the space.
All in all, thus far in 2009, the ducks have lined up and capital has
steadily flowed back to more speculative issues.
