Assuming credit cards do not disappear, I would run through my normal purchases on the card. On the payment date: from my online brokerage account, I would sell the required shares and have them do a transfer to my chequing account which has a PAP set up to pay off the balance. It is instantaneous. If the banking system collapes to the point where this is not possible then it is guns, gold and food. That is a whole new set of concerns.
I believe that the US would move quickly to a bi-metal or other PM back standard to protect the true controllers of the US, the bankers. It is still the world's reserve currency. Thus, it may only be for a few months. I would only keep enough gold silver for the time period. I would stock up now on necessities that may be much more expensive in the future. This will lower your need to spend with devalued currency during that time.
