Message: This just in: Mining seen driving North's economy

That's just what I've been saying about the importance of public hearings. In fact, I know a guy up there I could suggest he ask the following question at a public hearing on Tyhee:

Question: How much will the economic impact be for the local economy?

Answer: 300 jobs. $30 to $50 million her year in direct benefits, and close to $200 million per year in inderict benefits. If not much more. That is money for local contractors, hotels, aviation charter firms, mining suppliers, engineers, consultants, and 14 year olds serving coffee (not enough adults around for such jobs).

The first nations are deeply involved in the support industry and mining jobs, and will support this project. As long as "due consideration is paid" to the local First Nations peoples. Interesting how the word consideration has a financial meaning as well as an ethical one.
