Hansix,

I am not as certain as you regarding Germany doing the right thing. They have revitalized their manufacturing sector with the Euro. If they had gone the way of England and refused EU membership the DMark would be through the roof and there would have been no market for BMWs, Mercedes, German machine tools, etc. due to the strength of the currency. When they committed to the Eurozone they committed to giving back in the bad times as well as reaping the benefits of the good times as they have to the max in the last decade.

In a slimeball sort of way, they are analagous to Corzine not living up to his committments, only on a grander, global scale. I'll know for certain when the other 16 Euromembers ask for help and Merkel says she doesn't know where the money went (LOL).

Seriously, rules, regulations, etc don't hold a candle to voluntarily honoring one's committments. While many Euromembers are not honoring their own responsibilities, in an upper-handed sort of way neither is Germany. They signed up for this, no one held a gun to their heads.
