Another way of saying this is that "they" will just keep shorting the market until it just plain becomes impossible. Foolish yes! But it isn't their money. This is certainly a government operation and government's (1) don't care about money (they) just print the stuff if they want or need more and (2) (they) won't give up until the operation becomes completely pointless.

That said, I have had the thought that ron4n expresses pass through my mind as well. I think/hope this may have just escaped (or is in the process of escaping) their control however I can't let myself start rejoicing just yet. But just imagine where the price will go if they choose to cover their short position and give up the fight. They will add so much more fuel to the "buy side" and everyone and his brother will pile in when they see the price starting to explode.
