This morning I spoke to folks at the YK Chamber of Comerce and Tourist Office to inquire about whether winters there are getting warmer. I was told that the winter of 2014 was the coldest in 40 years, and that last winter was so warm that it delayed the opening of the ice roads by two weeks.
