I question whether IC in conjunction with the competition pencil pushers would even allow any one suitor (B,R,T) to take the whole ball of wax anyway. Afterall they wouldn't let them in the summer AWS auction. In fact I can almost guarantee that they wouldn't, not without any concessions. Now, Pierre or Anthony could be a different matter entirely since they are starting out with less than 10 % (actually zero) of the market. But, they don't have the coinage so that's not really plausable either. And we know that a foreign entity is out of the question because of the dipsticks in Ottawa dragging their feet and protecting uncompetitive business practices along with the exporting of jobs to the Indian sub-continent.
So, it does appear that some sort of consortium might be and always has been the only option. Look would've known this going in or atleast they should've -- IMO they did. And the bidders obviously would've as well considering the need of the federal beuracrats (and the auto workers take all the flak) to transfer the assets. So the delays do seem justified by the complexities of such a deal -- I just hate how the story and the timelines seem to be fluid.
So, Again the only 3 that could've taken the whole package would never have been allowed to anyway. Actually the there could've been a 4th, which could've been interesting, again starting out with zero percent. But with the $$$$ means to afford it at the same time -- RIM. I think the pencil pushers would've let this one go through.
