The objective of the Company is to enhance its value via high mineralization resource properties with a goal of turning them into commercial production.
Vancouver, B.C. - Upper Canyon Minerals Corp. ("UCM" or the "Company") /quotes/zigman/500345 CA:UCM -12.50% is pleased to report on the results of the 3-D modeling of the Norcourt mineralized body, on the Company's Brosnor Property located in Louvicourt Township, 30 kilometers east of the town of Val d'Or, in the province of Quebec.
The Brosnor property hosts three gold bearing structures, striking east-west, contained in quartz-tourmaline veins located in fractured more competent rock units. The property adjoins, to the west, the Richmont Mines, Monique gold deposit which is in the process of being developed towards open pit production.
The 3-D modeling, performed by GPC of Val d'Or, defines inferred resources of 451,480 metric tonnes grading 2.46 g/t Au (35,780 oz) to a vertical depth of 300 meters. This estimation is based on 49 drill holes (482 composites of 1 metre) intersecting 8 parallel veins ranging from 0.3 to 12.0 metres in width. This envelop would contain the historical resources of 289,050 t at 0.15 oz/t Au (43,358 oz) reported by Groleau, Le Mouel 1985 (non-compliant to NI 43-101). GPC earlier completed the modeling of the Adelemont zone, located some 500 metres to the northwest which was opened by a decline to the -100 metre level in 1985-86.(see Press release May 17, 2011) and contains an inferred resources of 864,350 metric tonnes at 1.29 g/t Au (35,862 oz). A total of 67 DDH (1977 composites of 1 metre) intersecting 2 sub zones were used to achieve the estimation. That resource includes the historical resources by Groleau, Le Mouel, (1985, non-compliant to NI 43-101) of 237,118 metric tonnes at 0.15 oz/t Au, equivalent to 35,568 oz., undiluted.
In both Norcourt and Adelemont resource calculations, GPC did not cap assay results or apply any cut off grade.
The mineralization is composed of quartz, carbonate and tourmaline veins invading fractured mafic volcanics, diorite and a quart feldspar porphyry dyke within a unit from 50 to 100 meters thick enclosed between two ultra mafic bands. The mineralized veins trend easterly, dip steeply to the south and plunge slightly to the east. The mineralized envelop is traced over 150 metres laterally and is opened both to the east and at depth. One step out hole 11-22 collared 130 metres further east, intersected the zone between 158 to 176.2 metres (1.17 g/t /3.40m, 6.66 g/t/1.60m and 8.51 g/t/0.80 m) and a historical drill hole No. 122A, located in the western part of the mineralized zone, intersected a historical value of 5.45 g/t / 10.6 metres at a vertical depth of 425 metres which supports the extensions of the Norcourt zone. Details of the drill intersections were disclosed regularly in previous Press Releases as the assays were received.
With the new information from the Modeling study, a surface drill program of 6,500 to 7,000 metres to explore the extensions of the Norcourt and the Bermont mineralized zones is being prepared. This fall, the company will execute a geophysical IP probing in selected drill holes of the last drill campaign, to test a possible signal of the quartz mineralized zones which, if positive, will be highly valuable for the up-coming drilling programme.
The issuance of the Authorization Permit (CA) is expected to be received in September, this permit is required before undertaking any development, surface and underground work on the property.
Surface clean-up, water basins and construction of required buildings, will commence upon receipt of the CA. Followed by the opening and de-watering of the decline. The underground development program, including re-assaying by bulk sampling the Adelemont zone could start by the end of this year.
Details of the underground development will be disclosed after the granting of the mining contract
The drill program will be carried out, concurrently to the underground development .
Tom Thomsen, President and CEO of Upper Canyon Minerals notes that: "Since our last news release, we have steadily ramped up our operations on the Brosnor Property. With the current gold prices, this is an exciting time to be within a few months of taking a bulk sample on the Adelemont gold zone."
Christian D'Amours, P. Geologist is responsible for the resource estimate and Jean-Louis Robert, Ph.D. Geol., for the additional information in this News Release are both qualified persons by the standards of National Instrument 43-101.
