Rising Value of Canadian $ Will Benefit US VIT Owners

Most every gold bug is familiar with Jim Sinclair. He previously mentioned that the Canadian Dollar is headed for 1.25 and over the next 5 years, over 1.70 vs. the US Dollar. How is this bullish for US investors in VIT. When the Canadian Dollar is trading above parity to the US Dollar, when you convert the Canadian $ price of VIT to US Dollars, the dollar value of VIT will be higher than the Canadian $ price. To illustrate: At the current time the Canadian $ is very close/or equal to the value of the US Dollar - in other words, the price of VIT is the same price whether or not is quoted in US Dollars or Canadian Dollars - the current closing price is 1.31. Now, let us assume that the Canadian Dollar immediately appreciates to 1.25 to one US Dollar. That means that the price a US investors would receive for the sale of VIT would immediately increase by 25% to 159.25 [(25%x1.31) 1.31 = 1.5925). Should the Canadian Dollar immediately appreciate to 1.70 then a US investor could receive 2.21 in US Dollars. The bottom line is that US investors will get a double header with VIT: increase in value in US Dollars as the Canadian Dollar appreciates vs. the US Dollar, and any appreciation that takes place in VIT without regard to currency values. In conclusion, US investors could see appreciation in their VIT shares, based in US Dollars, a 25% to 70% gain without any appreciation in the value of VIT without taking into consideration the currency value of the Canadian Dollar or the US Dollar.
