dustin hoffmann playing raul.. a younger robert reford playing chad.. lurking in the nevada vicinity is russian mining behemoth novilskau, scheming to take over VIT.. angelina jolie playing anastasia, the gorgeous pistol-packin daughter of the russian gangsta/pol (denzel washington) who heads novilskau.

jolie dallies with the VIT CEO, offering bottomless financing and other seductions, but secretly it's raul she's fallen for.. he reminds her of rasputin.

in the end, it's a tragedy.. cove and all the other properties are lost forever.. the treacherous jolie firebombs novilskau's reno office and perishes with trustful chad in a shootout.. closing scene shows raul racing to the horizon in dust-covered maserati, hell-bent on finding the next generation of believers . . .
