I suppose there could be lots of reasons. VIT has 6M ozs. gold worth about 7.2 billion right now. It could be undervalued with a MC of less than 200M.

Could be speculation or inside knowledge about Santa Fe.

Maybe Cove. Seems like good news to me no matter what Newmont does although I have a slight preference for a JV. And (IMHO) there will be more ore at Cove.

Maybe more ore at Eagle.

I don't think this co. has any poison pill in place; so the company may not be for sale but then again maybe it is. It must be interesting to all of Newmont, Kinross and Barrick for different reasons.

Hmmm, let's see Kinross gets Eagle; Newmont gets Cove; Barrick gets Santa Fe and maybe a slimmed down Victoria keeps on finding new deposits which seems to be their forte.

Strangely there still seems to be quite a bit of VIT available at .81.

Anyway it is an interesting situation.

JMHO.
