VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - March 10, 2010) - WebTech Wireless Inc. (TSX:WEW), a leading provider of vehicle fleet location-based services (LBS) and telematics technology, announces that Amador Transit of Sutter Creek, California, has become the latest customer of its NextBus™ Real-Time Passenger Information Service (RTPIS). The sale covers a full NextBus implementation and three years of service, including hosting fees.
Amador County, California is located approximately 45 miles southeast of Sacramento and is an important agricultural and tourist region.
The NextBus contract outfits Amador Transit's entire fleet with NextBus GPS location devices and uses NextBus patented technology that predicts real-time bus arrival information. NextBus will also install roadside LED digital bus stop displays and a large LCD transit center sign that will bring this information to riders.
The NextBus RTPIS also gives users access to accurate, real-time bus arrival information via their cell phones, Smartphones or from any computer connected to the internet. The NextBus system includes the ability to sign up for automatic email or text alerts. These alerts can be sent minutes before the bus is predicted to arrive – based upon its actual location – giving riders time to meet their bus: the system reduces wait times. NextBus will also implement its Telephone Information System. This lets riders use any phone to key in the code for their bus stop and hear an automated voice tell them when the next buses are predicted to arrive. GPS-enabled Smartphones will also give riders the location of the nearest bus stop.
"We're in business to serve the residents and visitors of Amador County, and providing a seamless system to announce the arrival of the next bus is a key element of our system. We've recently opened a new Transit Center, which is the public hub of our operations, and the NextBus system will be a major feature of that facility," said Amador Transit's Executive Director, James A. Means.
"Amador Transit represents a segment of our business that can really take advantage of the full NextBus value and feature set. It's an all-inclusive solution, and unlike some of our competitors that charge for individual features, we can deliver a comprehensive solution quickly and very cost effectively. We look forward to working with Amador Transit to demonstrate the real benefits that NextBus can bring to smaller, regional transit providers," said Owen Moore, COO of WebTech Wireless.
This latest NextBus sale underscores WebTech Wireless' commitment to meeting the needs of transit agencies of all types and sizes, and enhancing transit services in smaller communities.
