VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - May 4, 2011) - Williams Creek Explorations Limited ("Williams Creek", "WCX", or "the Company") (TSX VENTURE:WCX) is pleased to announce the start of its 2011 Phase I exploration program at its 100% owned Barkerville Crown Granted mineral properties. Mobilization of the drill and crew is underway with drilling anticipated to begin May 5th.

The Phase I program is composed of 5,000 metres of diamond drilling in two stages as well as trenching. The first stage will include 2,500 metres at 10 sites as well as 700 metres of trenching. The drilling and trenching programs will take place within a 2.0 square kilometre area of interest south and west of Barkerville Historic Town Site. Drilling and trenching locations were selected based on a thorough review of historical data conducted by Childs Geoscience Inc. Consulting Economic Geologists of Bozeman Montana, as well as to follow up previously identified but unexplored geophysical and geochemical anomalies.

Results from previous drilling programs between 1947 and 1991 on WCX's Barkerville properties have included drill intercepts grading from 0.17 to 2.85 ounces/ton. The WCX properties lie less than a kilometre east of Barkerville Gold Mines' Bonanza Ledge gold sulphide zone, which is currently in the late stages of the mine permitting process.

This season the Company also plans to undertake an expanded geochemical sampling program on its 100% owned Pine Property at Stanley, BC. A trenching program is planned for later in the season and an application is in process for a Mines Act permit. The Pine Property program intends to follow up on previously identified soil geochemical anomalies.

The Company is also pleased to announce it has opened a field office to serve as its regional base of operations. All core logging, sawing and storage will be conducted at this secure site located at 2307 Corbett Road, Quesnel, BC.

Williams Creek has contracted with Accurate Mining Services Ltd. of Quesnel, BC to be the Project Manager for this year's drilling program. "I am quite pleased to be working with Accurate Mining Services Ltd.," said Michael Sonnenreich, CEO and Chairman of the board. "Ms. Fran Macpherson of Accurate Mining has extensive experience in the Barkerville area and we are confident that we will achieve good results and do so on budget."

The 2011 field program is being conducted under the supervision of John F. Childs, PhD. (Childs Geoscience Inc. Consulting Economic Geologist of Bozeman Montana) who will act as the qualified person as defined by National Instrument 43-101 for all technical disclosures.

The Cariboo gold belt and the Barkerville Camp have a long history of gold production dating back to the 1800s. Historically the Barkerville Camp, which includes later lode production in Wells, has reported gold production of 3.8 million ounces, including 2.6 million ounces from surface placer and 1.2 million ounces from lode mining. When placer gold production peaked in the late 1890s, WCX's Black Jack (District Lot 1B), Home Stake (District Lot 4B), Cornish (District Lot 1F) and Wintrip (District Lot 32F) Crown Granted mineral claims were among the first acquired in the early search for lode gold.
