Storage devices such as Redox batteries use a fair bit of high quality graphite as well. This is a growing areas for home application and larger units for isolated communities. They could be "recharged" by the grid, or by solar panels or wind turbines.
One good example showing an integrated scheme of using solar wind power to charge up and store the enery in storage devices is the Tesla Gigafactory itself. It's a net zero energy factory powered by renewable energy.
This Gigafactory could be looked at as a showcase, a place to develop/test/demonstrate this integrated scheme for applications elsewhere (e.g. isolated communities, military applications). Elon always looks beyond, way beyond, the tip of his nose.
Just batteries and storage devices would soak up the available high quality graphite in the next several years. The more exotic applications, graphene, pebble bed reactors, etc...can wait for their turn.
