Fully agreed. In addition to potential question/challenge about the integrity of the core samples, it would be safer, from the security point of view, to have the cores split and send them away for analysis (at least, all your eggs are not in one basket).

Core shacks are usually located in remote and isolated areas and there were incidents where they were vandalized or just accidentally burned down. As you have indicated, it would be a lot more comfortable to have the samples analyzed and the results in the pockets.
