Technology giant Samsung is continuing to grow its stake in global Li-ion battery manufacturing as demand for the technology increases across the consumer electronics and energy sectors, which is an encouraging sign for mineral companies pegging their futures on the growth of the lithium battery industry...

South Korea-based Samsung Ventures has led a $17m funding round into US-based Seeo Inc., a developer of lithium polymer batteries. Earlier investors Khosla Ventures and GSR Ventures also participated in the round.

Seeo has already raised $40.6m, which will be used to accelerate the commercialisation of its new lithium polymer batteries....
