Yes the low volume is typical for a situation in which everybody is waiting for a change to occur. Technically, what we have in the chart is a triangle formation, and it is especially typical that volume would decrease towards the tip of the triangle, i.e. the decision point.

I am afraid that on Friday, the triangle formation may have been left for a downward movement... fundamentally I'd say this doesn't make sense, but that's what it looks like to me. However, one thing that speaks against this interpretation is that volume was missing (again).
