Zenith's BET Inhibitor ZEN-3694 is Currently Being Evaluated in Multiple Oncology Clinical Trials
Koo, I've seen changes in my business career many times and more often than not the changes lead to problems. I was an exec at one successful comapny when they brought in a new CEO. He was a great guy, very smart, had a leadership history in another industry, a long career in the CFL and I watched as our company began to fail under his watch. It took 3 years for the BOD to deal with it. It is very difficult to find qualified people with the right attitude, values and drive. So there is no easy fix in this situation.
Good leaders are usually mentoring and grooming their replacement but with RVX and Zen being small science shops it is difficult.
The lady(Charrington???) that Don chose to head up Zenith didn't work out as we saw.
Besides that, Don would have to be grooming someone with a skill set that he(Don) does not possess - that is, depth and credibility in the biotech and biotech financing.
I don't know about the early phases of financing but it is my understanding that at some point Eastern stepped in to RVX because Ken Dart had a respectful relationship with Dr Wong (jkj or gv would know) hence providing significant investment for many years. This in part may explain Don's longevity. Then Don has had the ability to scrape up investors at discounted prices to keep the ship afloat.
I do believe, to give Don credit, he has been successful for quite a number of years but recently we've seen dilution of share value becaause he has not been able to establish the true underlying value of the science vs., for example, a company like Repare Therapeutics.
What I don't understand is why Don hasn't done deals with the numerous mainstream Canadian biotech startup financing companies and their American partners? Given the science I'm sure they would be willing to step up to the plate. Instead Don needs to go to Chinese and Saudis. What gives?
I've been lobbying my kidney specialist to get me on apabetalone. I'm convinced it would help.
My health is good and I'm back to a form of jogging - LSJs - long slow jogs. Muskoka is fantastic as always.
Hope this finds you well.
IMHO this forum has isolated and articulated the fundamental problem with both RVX and Zenith and right now I don't see that problem being solved. Also, I believe that Hepalink and Dicky To (ORI Capital) have Don right where they want him. Just a theory. Don hasn't found the third major investor to balance Eastern and Hepa and also ORI Capital and he's turned down a major player to fund BoM2. The Covid trial better be a blockbuster!
GLTA Cheers
