Message: Big Drop in Zenith today!

Have Faith - What would cause this drop? First keep in mind that the pink sheets on the OTCBB market where ZHCLF trades is a hand shake market, meaning it is not electronic. When you and I look at it we do not see a bid and ask, we are blind. When go go to buy, or sell we put an order into our broker totally blind. On the electronic markets we can all see a bid or ask but on this we can't see those. So on an electronic market if there is no bid, no buyers, and someone puts in a Market order, that is sell at the market or bid price we can all see it trade for whatever price someone puts up when they see this market order come in. In the case of ZHCLF today I suspect someone put in a Market order for 1606 shares assuming it would trade for about .14 but not being able to see that there was no bid. The market maker saw an order come in "at the market" which was now totally at his/her discretion and that's all they were willing to pay... 32 cents for all of the shares that were put up for sale.

This is a rookie trader mistake from both the investor and the broker, if a broker was even used. More often than not trades like this happen by individuals doing their own trading and not understanding the implications of Market orders on thinly traded stocks.

A fun thing to do is to find some thinly traded mining companies that have some worthwhile assets that have done very little to impress their shareholders in the first 10 and a half months of the year. When these shareholders look at their gains and losses for the year they do their tax planning at the last minute and sell some shares of companies that are at that moment trading at a lower price than what they paid for it to reduce the amount of tax they may otherwise have to pay. In many cases Market orders are used but on electronic markets where everything is visible. People like me put in stink bids and sometimes we actually get fills at those stinky prices. Also in many cases selling those same investments just 6 to 12 weeks later can generate some very reasonable returns.

I used mining companies in the example above because that's where I've had the most success with this strategy. One year though RVX provided one of the best returns I've ever had with trading these tax loss selling strategy. The only reason I bring this up is because in many cases it is Market orders that provide the opportunities.

Although this was a little freaky on the share price of ZHCLF today nobody should get their panties in a knot over it. There was very little volume and it was short lived.
