Each lost just once before their respective conference tournaments; each boast a deep cadre of scorers; each has a signature defence. By the data that this season has provided, they should be playing on Monday, April 2 in New Orleans for the national championship, a rematch of the 1996 title game.
The NCAA men’s basketball tournament, which will feature 68 teams this year, is rarely predictable, though. Connecticut was barely on the radar last year until Kemba Walker had a March to remember. Butler, first as a fifth seed and then as an eighth seed, has made two straight championship games.
