Coal deals keep coming

An Indian acquirer is buying Toronto listed CIC Energy Corp. for $422-million, adding another deal to the long list of acquisitions in the coal sector in recent weeks. However, unlike much of the dealmaking that has been focused on metallurgical coal for steel making, this is a thermal coal deal. The purchaser, JSW Energy, wants to lock up supply for its power plants.
