PortalPlayer Inc swings to Q4 profit (PLAY) By Jennifer Inez Ward

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS.MW) -- PortalPlayer Inc. (PLAY) reported Thursday after the bell that it swung to a fourth-quarter profit of $10.5 million, or 50 cents a share. Last year, the Santa Clara, Calif.-based company reported a loss of $759,000, or $6.54 a share. Pro forma earnings for the quarter were $11.2 million, or 53 cents a share. Revenue for the quarter was $44.7 million vs. $8.1 million. The company expects first-quarter earnings in a range of 16 cents to 19 cents a share. Pro forma earnings for the first quarter are expected to be between 18 cents and 21 cents a share.
