Global Traveler Names Midwest Airlines `Best Airline for Economy Class`

MILWAUKEE, Jan 24, 2005 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- Global Traveler magazine has named Milwaukee-based Midwest Airlines ``Best Airline for Economy Class`` as part of its 2004 GT Tested Awards. The magazine`s well-traveled subscribers annually select the best in business and luxury travel.

``Business travelers do occasionally fly economy,`` said the magazine`s publisher and CEO, Francis X. Gallagher, who presented the awards to the winners today in a ceremony in New York. ``In that category, Midwest Airlines earned top honors with its leather seats, ample legroom and warm cookies served onboard.``

Following Midwest Airlines` first place ranking in the economy class category were American Airlines, EVA Air, JetBlue and Delta. A complete list of all winners can be found in the January issue of Global Traveler and at http://www.globaltravelerusa.com .

``Because we`re a small airline, it`s especially meaningful to be recognized by people who regularly travel around the world,`` said Timothy E. Hoeksema, chairman and chief executive officer. ``We`re gratified that the readers of Global Traveler appreciate our commitment to provide passengers with an exceptional travel experience.``

The open-ended reader survey ran in the March and May 2004 issues of Global Traveler and was posted on the magazine`s Web site. A total of 3,232 readers submitted nominations. Only those surveys returned with at least 50% of the questions answered were used in the tabulations.

Midwest Airlines features jet service throughout the United States, including Milwaukee`s most daily nonstop flights and best schedule to major destinations. Skyway Airlines, Inc. -- its wholly owned subsidiary -- operates as Midwest Connect, which offers connections to Midwest Airlines as well as point-to-point service between select markets on regional jet and turboprop aircraft. Together, the airlines offer service to 50 cities. More information is available at http://www.midwestairlines.com .
