development agreement....

My post was just a summary of the salient points of the DRM agreement. It`s 5 pages with a 9-page addendum. I have it only in .pdf format and can`t cut and paste the text.
you can cut and paste PDF
Because there is again so much speculation and false information being posted on agoracom by doni, I`m adding clarification:
1. The new encryption technology in the DRM agreement is to be used for digEcor`s future products (XT, digEsystem, etc.) not for the current 5500. Apparently digEcor does not want to continue with the DivX code and encryption used in the 5500 in new products. The agreement gives a time schedule for delivery of the technology.
That was most apperant...there moving to .AVI file format
2. e.Digital had already developed a written proposed DRM scheme (for the eVu?) for submission to the studios (dated 9/1/05). The proposed DRM involves physical security of the units, security during encoding and content encryption. It is the 9-page addendum to the DRM agreement. The encryption scheme is described in great detail.
That may be the case...however...the devlopment agreement is for one layer as I see it...encryption of the .avi files...which for the origional Henson IP would be post production 4th layer....
you state...The proposed DRM involves physical security of the units, security during encoding and content encryption.
This devlopment agreement covers one aspect of what you state.....``content encryption``
It seems that e.Digital had not yet gotten studio approval as digEcor was going to use their relationships with studios to achieve it.
That was identified
3. Executing the DRM agreement was a contingency of the digEplayer purchase order for 2,000 units (the current 5500). The agreement states that 1,250 units will be ordered immediately upon execution understanding that they would be manufactured at Maycom. The other 750 would be ordered at a later time, but would use a different manufacturer.
Now that you did not state...and caused confusion as thinking the order was for players on the newly developed platform
4. The agreement was signed on 11/11/05 by both parties (RP sent his signature fax on 11/14/05 - you can see the fax header). The 1,250 players were them ordered.
Now unimportant...as the order is for the 5500 model...the exact unit Maycom has been delivering on....what`s the problem?
5. There is no mention or involvemnt of MOS in the agreement or in e.Digital`s proposed encryption methology. (Flash file management is irrelevant to encrypting content on a PC).
It`s not about flash file management...it`s about
``Develop and provide firmware programming to support new encryption.``
capable of .avi or what ever file type..will require an organizational feature for files place on whatever media type ....as all the files contained on the end user device will not consist totally of encrypted .avi files....
