Alaska Airlines Seeks OK to Fly to Mexico
AP
SEATTLE (AP) - Alaska Air Group Inc., holding company for regional carriers Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air Industries, on Friday said it has applied to the U.S. Department of Transportation for permission to fly three nonstop routes to Mexico.
One route would connect Seattle and Cancun. The other two routes would connect Portland, Ore., and the Mexican resort destinations of Los Cabos and Puerto Vallarta.
If approved, the flights will operate between the end of October until the end of April.
A Department of Transportation decision is expected in June, Alaska Airlines said.
Shares of Alaska Airlines climbed 60 cents to $38.68 in afternoon trading on the New York Stock Exchange.
