June 20, 2006 – TRANSATLANTIC business-only operator MAXjet Airways has just taken delivery of its third aircraft. The carrier plans to use the Boeing 767-200ER to increase frequencies on its existing London Stansted to New York JFK and Washington DC routes and to develop a new US service.
Washington DC-based MAXjet offers all-business-class transatlantic services at what it describes as “everyday low fares” – standard round trips start at $1,750. Its 767-200ERs are configured with 102 business-class seats that recline almost fully flat and the service offering includes IFE delivered via handheld digEcor digEplayers.
The airline says that last month it carried around 3,950 passengers on New York-Stansted – 70 per cent of total traffic on the route – and registered an average load factor of 72 per cent. It is now negotiating for its fourth and fifth aircraft. “We’re planning to add a new US city following delivery of our fourth aircraft this year,” says MAXjet CEO Gary Rogliano.
On the Washington DC-Stansted route, introduced on April 5, MAXjet carried 1,600 passengers last month. The airline says that in response to increasing demand it will increase the service to five flights weekly with the addition of a Thursday departure from June 29.
The airline also offers VIP charter services and says that this side of the business is also growing, with contracts in place with over 30 US and UK institutions. Customers include sports teams, corporations, government bodies and travel groups.
