June 20, 2006 – LONDON-based handheld IFE aspirant has teamed with IFE Alliance to source content for the service it hopes to launch this summer.

Inflight Alliance is the creation of Germany’s Atlas Air and UK-based Inflight Productions, two established content provision specialists. The company will help Mezzo to select, acquire and process multi-language films and TV programmes.

“The Mezzo team’s background in supermarket retailing is evident in the way they think and their determination to give their clients the very best handheld IFE solutions,” says Joerg Schiffmann, chairman of the IFE Alliance management board. “They are creating innovative solutions that will help to grow the IFE market in new sectors such as short-haul.”

Mezzo has been developing a turnkey IFE service for low-cost, leisure and other carriers for the past 18 months. “With the addition of the resources of IFE Alliance we are confident of being able to offer a broad range of solutions tailored to the airlines’ particular requirements,” says Mezzo chief executive Dave Sampson. “Our complete and fully outsourced service is available right now and could be implemented in as little as eight weeks.”
