Other than the hardware construct...

why would they need a patent ?

The new security application of the MOS...might be as equally important....and may warrant a patent..However, IMO

only when another company comes ito the picture.

I have considered this a reason why no company has taken the current IP...they`re not looking for anyone to take it as a whole yet...not until they have a few key applications tied down....they may have in the past tried to get cooperation...but may have been asked to give up more than they are willing.

What aspects would you want tied up before they let out the

MOS for full development of applications ? When they do let it out.. the independent developers will want to patent their ideas of MOS applications .... this is what will drive the economy of e.Digital....not flaky OEMs or IFE issues.

At this point they have harnessed issues with regard to audio.. issues with regard to video..they have security issues within the MOS...now issues as an app outside the MOS...they`ve mixed it up with voice activation issues....retro restore issues...they`ve harness all the FAT schemes driven under the MOS scheme...as well as different issues of proprietary file structures..contiguous/noncontiguous...they`ve taken on linux system development issues...they`ve harnessed the properties for flash memory developments with patents....they`ve harnessed hard drive issues....and the list keeps growing....this is what it`s all about.

And with that the MOS is capable of template under other OS conventions currently in use.. so as to be hardware independent.....driving high level API and low level bios.

It`s a new ground up issue...requiring them to take great care in the way it is brought along.

From what I see they may have let it to a select few...in minimal form.
