read with a different prospective..less jumbled..

First the noise from....

``Ittiam Systems today announced that the company`s advanced digital media processing technology was showcased by its customers and partners in the 2005 International Consumer Electronics Show at Las Vegas, U.S.A., from 6th to 9th January. On display was a complete form-factor reference design of a portable media player (PMPR) offering high-quality media storage and playback along with an audio-video streaming solution suited for desktop or portable applications.``

``The Ittiam PMPR is a 140mmx95mmx28mm Linux based reference design built around the programmable multi-media processor platform TMS320DM320™ from TI. It is powered by a rechargeable battery that delivers at least 4 hours of continuous video. Interfaces include USB, audio port for external speakers/headphone and video port for direct display on the television. The entire unit is controlled by a navigation switch and a full-function infra-red remote controller. The PMPR has a 3.5 inch QVGA LCD screen showing MPEG2, XVID, MPEG4, DivX and WMV™ movies at 30 fps at D1 resolution with MP3, AC3, AAC, WAV and WMA™ audio in stereo. The PMPR also has a photo-viewer supporting JPEG images along with audio. All the content is stored in a built-in 20 GB hard disk drive.``

Not the DigEplayer....4hr...what would that be.. 2 movies ?

``Ittiam`s audio-video streaming solution is built on TI`s TMS320DM342™ platform. It is an ISMA compliant Ethernet based multi-cast streaming client running on Linux and supporting RTP and RTSP. It is designed to support other transfer protocols like HTTP. It streams MPEG-4 Video at VGA resolution at 30fps at 3 Mega bits per second along with MP3 audio.``

``suited for desktop or portable applications.``

It`s more suited for desk top...where power isn`t a problem...``as a portable``... that would be the PMPR above....as a desk top addon...is it Windows compatible ?...not ?

Now the noise of TI....

1. Texas Instruments (TI) demonstrated... both the PMPR and the streaming media solutions. by Ittiam... because it`s built on TI`s TMS320DM342™ platform.he

2. Texas Instruments (TI) demonstrated... DivX ® Networks showcased NHJ™ MPM a commercial PMPR with DivX certified Ittiam`s video processing technology. (same platform ?) In addition, DivX Networks also demonstrated a camera design with video encoding technology from Ittiam capable of capturing video in DivX format at VGA resolution at 30 frames per second (fps) and MP3 audio.(same platform ?...why show it if it`s not)

3. Texas Instruments (TI) demonstrated A range of Silisand enabled portable media products with Ittiam technology were also showcased.(why do that unless it`s the same TI platform ?)This includes a video and music player from Maxian, MP-2220 and a MPEG4 player from TGE, DVP100.(all TI platform ?)

Silisand is a ..semiconductor Solution specialty development enterprise..TGE and the others.. go to this company for devlopment to incorporate the TMS320DM342 ?

4. Softier Incorporated, on the other hand, showcased Ittiam`s video coders running on its embedded Linux™ operating system on TMS320DM642™ from TI.(This one we know ...lol)

Multiple gadgets based on the media processing technology from Ittiam have been introduced in the market in this holiday season.

Silisand ? What a layer of crap....lol...

as for TI I thought their platform was more efficient than that.
