Align Gets Favorable Patent Claim Ruling AP SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) - Align Technology Inc., producer of teeth-straightening systems, said Thursday a federal appeals court declared some patent infringement claims against the company invalid. The patent infringement claims declared invalid by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit comprise two of 71 claims against one Align patent, and four of 10 claims against another of the company's patents. The patent infringement claims were made by Ormco Corp., a maker of orthodontic equipment and supplies, Align said. The appeals court's decision reverses an earlier California District Court decision that upheld the validity of the claims. Ormco could not immediately be reached for comment.
