Interesting articles. The technical security issues of the different IFE platforms are not an area of my expertise in any way. I`m a big dumb brand marketing and OEM kinda guy. Doni or EL may have some tech comments on the ways the other platforms perform their alleged security...with ``alleged`` being key since I don`t know how many major studios have approved the other platform`s security for actual roll out to the airlines. I don`t think we know how many major airlines are going to bite for EDIG`s or any other IFE in the current financial climate of their industry. The good news is the digEplayer is a relativly cheap way in the door to test if the flying public will pay and how much. Past that? So far, the digEplayer seams to be a winner when used on flights that make sense to offer. I doubt I would rent one on a Ryan AIr hour to 1.5 hr flight either. That`s where Ryan Air makes their money, short flights by US measures.
We also know that five studios have offered APS / Wencor their titles via the security platform in the digEplayer. I trust that will translate to other devices targeted at other markets.
