``The new chip, embedded with a number of hardware-based multimedia accelerators, will function as a coprocessor, sitting next to a baseband processor.``

Now this is a company seeing the handwriting on the wall...

from PCI to AGP expansion cards...to one chip wonders....the expansion card business want a piece.

thing is...no slots to plug into....this new paradigm is not plug and play....not yet anyway....lol

You have to be chosen by an OEM to be plugged into a system....if you meet the bus structure specs....not an after market customer looking to hot rod their unit.

Unless other companies put expansion slots on their boards...companies of this type are going to have to devlope full end product appliances....or die....the platforms are changing too fast.

It`s all going to come down to the processor of choice

edigs platform as a stand alone...does not require a coprocessor.

An ARM platform would require one.
