WASHINGTON, Feb 14 (Reuters) - FMR Corp. holds a 5.6 percent stake in Apple Computer Inc. , the maker of Mac computers and the iPod music players, according to a U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission filing on Monday.

FMR, the parent company of No. 1 mutual fund firm Fidelity Investments, held more than 22.5 million shares of Apple common stock as of Dec. 31, according to the SEC filing indicating a ``passive`` stake.

Under such a filing, the investor is not required to provide details such as when shares were acquired or sold or the cost of the transaction.

Apple shares were up $2, or 2.5 percent, at $83.21 in morning trading on Nasdaq.
