How easy is it to identify EDIG's patented file management and data segmentation useage?
Based on reading PTSC issues and their ongoing court case, their patents seem to be far harder to recognize, but I am not a break it down for me, Brother kinda tech guy. Just doing a comparison for a realistic time line...probably not much better than a WAG since we know so little about what has and has not already been done by DM and / or Pat N.
If EDIG's IP is more easily identified, they stand to be able to negotiate a settlement more easily than if it takes 12 engineers, 16 lab rats, and 114 DVDs of soft porn to explain to a mediator or court exactly what has been copied.
As for settlements, my guess is EDIG via DM will go for the one time payment in the short and near term, should there be licenses to grant. it is much cleaner for DM and it may promote the licensee to assist with future castration of other (competitive) mean ole copy cats.
