Silverjet plans interior enhancements
August 24, 2007 – BRITISH premium-only carrier Silverjet is planning to add further features to the luxury interiors of the Boeing 767s that it operates from Luton to New York. Launched at the beginning of this year, the carrier offers an all-premium-class service that includes handheld IFE provided by London-based turnkey specialist Mezzo. Silverjet has just contracted UK company aeroDAC to provide certification expertise in support of further interior modifications to the 767s. The airline says it is continuing to develop design concepts, including the industry’s first dedicated ladies’ toilet. “Our experience has enabled us to take this initial concept through to certification,” says aeroDAC certification director Carl Thomas. “A dedicated ladies’ toilet will be a standard installation on all Silverjet aircraft.” aeroDAC was responsible for supporting the EASA certification of the interiors in Silverjet’s first two 767s, which are now in scheduled service. The amenities on board include the “Silver Screen powered by mezzo.aero” IFE offering. Handheld units supplied by e.Digital of California serve up Hollywood blockbusters and a selection of classic titles, plus 24 hours of US and UK comedies and dramas, documentaries, sport and music videos; an audio library of over 100 rock, pop, dance, urban, jazz, classical and greatest hits CDs; and airport information, talking books and games. A player, along with a noise-reduction headset, is delivered to each seat by the cabin crew. London-based Mezzo is supplying the airline with a fully managed service that includes the provision and management of all hardware, licensing, content, daily onboard operations, crew and customer communications, and back-office support. |
