EDIG is definitely in the mix....the greater the exposure to EDIG the better.
September 14, 2007 – THE ding-dong in the handheld IFE market is well and truly under way again, with IMS announcing two new contracts following recent successes by rivals e.Digital and digEcor (Inflight Online, September 12 and 13).
Hong Kong-based long-haul low-fare carrier Oasis and Royal Jordanian Airlines began flying IMS’ PAV-704 portable media player (PMP) in their business classes during July.
The players deployed by Oasis feature Chinese and English menus and help screens, along with an extended-life battery for use on flights from Hong Kong to London Gatwick and Vancouver. The Royal Jordanian devices have both Arabic and English graphical user interfaces.
“Knowing that inflight entertainment is key to passengers’ onboard enjoyment, we sought out IMS’ handheld players for use on the rare occasions when the in-seat video system might fail,” says Oasis product manager Peter von Huene Chan.
