Still think my post has some merit though.  I don't think DM wants to wait years for their first payment of legal work performed.  By working on a contingency basis, infringers may be eager to settle early since they know DM is willing to put in the hours on a delayed payment plan.  On the other hand, I thought the Rockies were going to win the World Series.
