yep. I play a little bit in the oil futures market....only spec money as I am too dumb to play that market in a big way, but I follow it.  The market makers are the same as OTC stocks.

The price of crude oil and the price of a gallon of gas are mutually exclusive up to the point you made about refineries.  Capacity and our EPA grading system make it difficult and oil companies will make their money one way or the other.  Exxon-Mobil just turned in a 9+ BILLION $ profit Q report.  Not bad and they are one of the most widely held stocks in the world.  

The price of crude oil is a market funtion for betting on the future.  That's why LS crude hit $96+ today and the gas prices in Nashville went down 2 cents.  In six to nine months, that will likely catch up to the gas pumps -- should demand remain high or supply side not increase.

Oh, but all those empty and multi million dollars light railways will do the trick.  What a waste of money.
