From your post...
Extend T-Flash card = MicroSD
T for Transflash

Developers of SD form factors....implement proprietary controller technology(firmware) within. A controller consists of a hardware and software set.
The format of the flash is through this on-board firmware. There will be a proprietary format form one vendor to the next. The vendors will have varying system space with in for propriety purpose, leaving a balance of space for the end user. With that , there will be varying speeds of write and erase between each vendor.
IMO...even though a vendor supports a particular physical form factor and pin count...they could cheat at what Firmware they implement with in.
Looking at Pretec (an SD manufacturing arm of Premier Image owned by Foxconn) and their offering line of SDC, or, Secure Digital compatible. By not including the the secure functionality of SD, now unavailable, no doubt for some form of dissatisfaction by the SD association, I'd say they cheat at other endeavors.
That goes for others as well.
Toshiba cheated on Lexar....Lexar cheated on Sandisk.
I'd say, it would be easy for many to cheat on e.Digital..including Sandisk.
