"It provides the means for high-bandwidth, near CD-quality, stereo audio playback from a CompactFlash(R) (CF(R)) cartridge, other removable flash memory or embedded flash memory in a portable electronic unit. Record, edit and playback functions are encoded in the unit and a PC interface links the portable unit to the computer."

Like I mentioned in a previous post....the Applications function directly from the flash. With that, make it happen from any flash form factor you like.

They can make this happen for any linear type file construct.

Video and audio are linear,  formally of cellophane tape. As a specialized application functioning directly from the flash, it is not necessary to be orchestrated between the processor and normally associated RAM.

The removable flash card form factors mentioned above....in effect become self contained expansion cards with storage. IMO, seeing they have the ability of portability, the cards could be pushed into any device driving any codec under the attributes of any OS ...as long as the attributes of each are considered in a design. The transform(or portability) is done through their OS/file orchestration without a formal transcode or translation between different abstracts.

"The FlashBack Audio(TM) technology is based on the MicroOS(TM) operating system for Flash memory."....It's an application that works in unison with all the ability of the OS. There are two separate entities here.

"a computer standard interface and adaptability to various industry standard removable flash memory."...... their controller technology will fit into any flash form factor or embedded raw flash.

The above application is very important....and IMO, is what they are centering on with regard to infringement, however, the portability issue with regard to the OS/file, IMO,  is the holy grail at any level of computing.

It's easy to see,  that through Flashback Audio above...the Sound clip removable cards(for the Flashback audio recorder) were noted as removable, however, more importantly they were the first to implement on the cards an actual application making the card self contained for application/storage together.

This is my consideration for the ability of being expansion card related....plug it in for self generated I/O in a nonvolatile environment.
