I note that the SIM card for the Iphone is the older looking version(the larger card configuration).....In my previous post, relating to SIM, were in regard to the new thumbnail size. In this respect,  the Iphone is configured different than a standard GSM/SIM phone.

Seeing that the SIM for the Iphone is the older larger version, or possibly a proprietary configuration, you will not be able to take the card to any GSM phone because of it's size. You will only be able to put it into Iphones.

The SIM or Smartchip is in effect the real purchase form a service provider....that you can place in any GSM able phone. For the most part now,  the SIM is the small thumbnail form factor. It will carry forward service provider info as well as user files to a new GSM phone.
