Like I mentioned, it could be noted for something deeper.
They are up dating a non volatile environment(Flash?).... precision timing and map updates aside.
Updating data requires the ability to service the program and reset of bits within the non-volatile environment. For flash, this is done normally with IC's or controllers..by Sandisk, Lexar...etc, I did not read much past the heading.
The focused effort of the patent is not important, it's the manner they mount the flash in the process that is, and what is actually taking place within the flash.....even though they're updating mapped structures(virtual files) in a normal looking fashion. There is some form of back ground they have to be adhering to in the non-volatile, that their program/reset relates to....do they own it?
