The winner of the award for best Materials and Components is Lufthansa Technik with the “UHF RFID Tag”. The engineers at Lufthansa Technik have developed a passive UHF RFID (radio frequency identification) tagging technology. A transponder makes it possible to locate and identify any given object and verify its modification status at all times – without having to access a central database – simply by radio transmission between the transponder and the tag.
