Sound heavy to me! From the IFExpress article last week.

IFExpress understands that Digeplayer will be working with one seat manufacturer, however, if we were an inseat power player or a seat manufacturer we’d be calling Wencor. This 1.6 lb. per seat product will have single-aisle, killer-app potential, especially if they can hit the $3-$3.5k per seat price point!

1.6# vs 1.8kg (less than 4 #s)

From your post EDIGlong

Delta Beta Has New Solid-State IFE System

Delta Beta says it has a new fully solid-state in-flight entertainment system that uses no disk drives, DVD (digital versatile disc) drives, or other moving parts.

Delta Beta believes the solid-state design of its new 9000Si, a follow-on to its 9000 series, will substantially improve its reliability – 99.9% or greater – by virtually eliminating susceptibility to shock and vibration. This is a 500% improvement over standard airline industry requirements, according to Delta Beta. Solid-state components also have allowed the company to include complete network and server redundancy, as well as reduced power requirements, less heat, and shorter movie upload times.

The 9000Si series provides up to 450 hours of on-demand movies, 600 hours of music, games, e-mail, shopping and Internet/intranet browsing for less than four pounds (1.8 kilograms) per seat. 11-27-2004.
