The answer to that is quite simple. First we let the enviormentiist dictate for us what is best for us without real proof of planet warming.
Next we have people that were voted in to represent those of us that put them there , to serve our best interest but are more concerned about a political party that looks only for power. They need to read the constitution that they swore to up hold. Its a governement "Of people and for the people , that is those that put them there in the first place. That they have ignored the people and what is really in their best interest is why we have not developed the oil fields that we know exist and can without doubt make us "OIL INDEPENDENT". That is not to say we should stop trying to find othert sources of energy. That can be years away and the crisis is "NOW". Even with all of the Gas that we have most homes in the north are not equipped to use it for heat. Our cars are not able to use it in that form. Having it in the abundance that we do does not answer what we need to transport our food or for that matter for mass tranportation.
The immediate answer is drilling and pumping the oil that we know exists and to do it now. Anything else is will only the problem worse.
What this all smells of is the payoffs that this country has made to foriegn entities and the money that goes into the pockets of those that represent us.
The refusal to even search for oil in Alaska smeels of a fix. To say it will disturb the Carraboo , who the hell cares. When was it that you or any body else ate carrabo steak. McCain says the reason he don't want to drill there is because its "Pristine". No sh-t.
In the mean time 4.50 a gallon for gas and going higher, freeze out next winter for those who live in the northern states. Food being use for an alternet fuel and the price of food goes through the roof.
Its time for a change all right. Just remember the second ammendment. There are other ways to get rid of a congress that does not have our interest in heart. Our interest means those of us today that they are soposed to represent.
