I`ll ditto those insights LL and suggest that the reason EDIG has been mum on the embedded system is because Wencor is calling the shots. We should learn more next week if Daboss`s email from Wencor is any indication.

I got more information out of Putnam last fall regarding the embedded system before the latches were battened down. There is absolutely nothing coming out of EDIG about the embedded system. Last time I talked to him he wouldn`t even answer questions about Thales or Delta beta let alone Wencor / APS.

Having said that, I believe the second generation digeplayer / embedded digesystem will be launched at this conference. Note last sentence

10.25-10.50 Embedded versus Portable IFE - a suppliers perspective

Web Barth, Vice President Marketing & Sales, Wencor/APS

APS pioneered and introduced the first portable, VOD in-flight entertainment device in September 2003. The presentation covers digeplayer development from concept to product launch, market opportunities available that embedded systems could not fill, ranking of most popular airline applications for portable IFE devices, side by side business models and economies for airlines, logistics issues, content loading, business jet applications, and next generation portable device features.

In my opinion we may not have to wait that long to find out more. Seems reasonable APS / Wencor would want to pump up interest with a Press release beforehand to promote attendance.
